Sister born in England but longtime NZ citizen wishing to return permanently to UK

Post by Carolen » Fri Sep 07, 2018 1:25 pm

My sister, born in the UK of parents also born here, emigrated to New Zealand in the 1960s with her English husband, and became a NZ citizen a few years later.
Now divorced and aged 76, she wishes to return to live with me, her only living relative, permanently in the UK.
Does she have automatic Right of Abode?
I think she has a NZ passport but hasn't travelled for several years, so it has probably expired and needs renewing...

Is she British? Has she ever had a British passport? I would suspect she IS British (in which case your question is a bit silly - of course she has the right to abode as a British citizen). Does New Zealand allow dual citizenship?
