SET(M) Section 3 Confusion

Hi,
My wife, who is applying for ILR, has a child from a previous relationship who is under 18, does not live in the UK and who is NOT applying with her.
I also have children from a previous relationship, who are over 18, live in the UK and are not subject to immigration control.
The first paragraph SET(M) Section 3 seems to imply that only children who are under 18 and who are applying with the applicant as dependants must be mentioned here. So it seems that my wife should leave this section blank.
However, questions 3.2, 3.3 and 3.6 seem to ask about any children from our previous relationships regardless of their age or the fact that they do not apply and we are not financially responsible for supporting them. So it looks as if we have to list all our children from previous relationships.
Could anyone help me with the logic of this form please?
