The nightmare of UK immigration part 1.

Post by Lizard19 » Wed Sep 26, 2018 6:02 pm

Hey there!
I have decided to join this forum in hope that someone can help me out a little bit since we have been looking for a way for me and my fiancé to be together in the U.K.. the background goes like this:
I am a Mexican National and my fiancé is from Jersey in the Channel Islands, after looking for jobs for myself in Jersey I came across with really difficult filters as they don't give out work permits that easily. We started this way even when we were engaged to see if I could get a Tier 2 or the equivalent for the Channel Islands and we failed.

So now we will be getting married in January' 2019, I am planning to start my visa process until February since he would have turned 6 months at his workplace. My fiancé is currently working in Jersey which on the website says he needs to be working in the U.K. For at least six months and have a joined income of £18,600 per year. I am in Mexico sorting all the wedding arrangements.

We met in the U.S on an internship 15 months ago and we have been together for 9, we have traveled around the US and he came to Mexico and I visited him in the U.K. As well. We have proof of out travels and our relationship as well.

The wedding will be held in Mexico, I have read now that I can translate the Mexican wedding certificate and it will be valid for the U.K. Government.

My concerns are;

will the time we have been together influence getting the visa even if we are already married ?

Is the visa process or visa itself any different when applying to living first in jersey? His parents live there and have approved for us to live there for a while before we can get our own place, living in jersey it's quite expensive and we are more interested in living in the mainland

Do you really recommend to do the process through a consultor? Or is it something that can be done just yourself. We are kind of on the budget.
Please feel free to throw any other piece of advice that we can find useful. Thank you everyone. I hope each one of you get to be with your significant other.
