My Adopted Russian Son

I am a British/US citizen living in the USA. I adopted my son ( Now aged 12) From Russia 8 years ago.In 2010. My son is a US /Russian Citizen. We both reside in NY.

I have been told by the home office that I am unable to register my son as I do not live in the UK and Russia is not a Hague country.. ( For those two reasons) They do not recognize the adoption. My goal is to eventually move back to the UK with my son, but that does not seem possible?



I have a court date for October 11th in NY, to re adopt him in the USA to obtain US documents. as even though he has a US passport and Certificate of citizenship, Re adopting is quite normal ,to obtain a state birth certificate.. I was told earlier on today from the home office that even if I returned back to the UK the very next day to permanently live. The adoption would still not be recognized because I was not residing there prior to this.



Any advise would be greatly appreciated. I have contacted a few solicitors and the nationality help line and nobody has answers. It seems so unfair that I cannot return to the UK with my son.
