where does it say in the passport that we are british otherwise than by descent

Post by bravopapa » Sun Sep 30, 2018 12:35 pm

Hello,

Where does it say in the passport that we are british otherwise than by descent (meaning we can pass the citizenship to our children)?

Also my son passport mentions that he is born in whitechapel (which is he is) and not London. Why do they not put London in the BC passport? Is it a big deal? could it create issues in the future?

Many Thanks

A British passport does not distinguish between British otherwise than by descent and British by descent. However, a place of birth in the UK makes it likely for the holder to be British otherwise than by descent.

The birth certificate mentions Royal London Hospital.

Regardless, i think the passport office should have the detailed record in a database somewhere to cross check the information in the passport.
