Police Registration and travelling

Post by shelina7898 » Sat Oct 06, 2018 1:28 pm

I am a uni student and I have moved to a new place this year so I have to update the address on my certificate. I just booked an appointment with the police registration centre this week earlier but the latest one I could get was in late March. which is gonna be more than the 7-day limit.

I am planning to travel to Romania this December. Will the late registration (change of the address) affect the emigration and immigration process?

No, that's not your fault that you cannot get it updated for five months. If you are concerned, take in your hand luggage evidence of having made the appointment.

Five months is a bizarrely long and almost unbelievable waiting time for something so quick and simple which is usually a walk-in. Which city or town is this? I strongly recommend you let your international student adviser know about this crazy long waiting time.

Hey! Thanks for the reply!

I am studying in Birmingham and they require us to make appointments instead of just walk-in. The y literally pointed out on their website saying no walk-ins are allowed or smth. The centre even only opens from Monday to Thursdays, at 8am till 2pm.
I have contacted the school and ask them if they could help me to arrange an earlier date. Hope everything goes well!

There is probably no need for that. But it would be helpful to have confirmation from the local police that you have done your part by arranging an appointment, and hence you have met the condition to report the change within 7 days.

Did you miss this information on the West Midlands Police website?

If there are no available appointments within seven days, please book the earliest available appointment.

https://www.west-midlands.police.uk/ser ... gistration

I advise you carry in your hand luggage a print out of this page and of the confirmation of your appointment.
