Need to apply dependent relative visa for parents

Post by talkhome » Sun Oct 07, 2018 8:34 pm

I am British Citizen currently living in London and planning to move to Dublin soon.

My question is:

Can i sponsor my non EU parents to Ireland to join me as an adult dependent visa?

What sorts of documents will i need. My uncle lives in Dublin so i know i can share his room and i can possibly secure IT job.

Let's assume if i rent a 2 bedroom flat in Dublin and have a job there full-time. Are there a good chance to secure residence for my parents?

You have one problem of uncertainty BREXIT

First you’ll need to set yourself up in Ireland and move your “centre of life” which could take a few months.

Once you’ve set yourself up you’ll need to apply for your parents’ visitor visas which depending on their country of origin this could take months.

By the time you’ve achieved the above BREXIT may have happened officially which in turn makes you a non-EU member thus Freedom of Movement ceases to apply.

That may well be the case but my understanding is that Freedom of Movement is dependent upon the “sponsor” being a EU Citizen.

The question remains though how the Irish government will view the “settled status” and with it, what rights family members will have once UK is officially out of the Block. If we are to assume the EU will maintain the current stance of “no cherry picking” the rules to follow are anyone’s guess.
