Savings Route - Proof of Funds

Post by robgoals » Mon Oct 08, 2018 1:09 pm

Hello,

My wife is applying for a settlement visa. I’m a UK citizen. We’re meeting the financial requirements by the savings route.
What exactly is needed from my bank? They’re being quite obstructive. I don’t get statements regularly as I bank online and have opted to go paperless. The bank have agreed to send statements them for the last 6 months. Is this all that is needed? As long as they’re on the banks stationary with the information on will they be accepted or will they need stamping or an accompanying letter? The bank are refusing to do either of these things and are quite insistent that’s not required but I’m wary of being rejected over something like this.

Thanks

Rob

You can print out bank statements online and get the bank to stamp each page.

For proof of funds you need to provide proof of how you got hold of the savings. This can be a statement from you saying how you got the money. If there are large deposits you will need to show proof of it such as bank statements from sending and receiving accounts.

We went down this road and were delayed over a month by my bank just not getting it!

They just kept sending me online statements or present balance confirmations and when I sent them in and asked them to certify each one, they then said they could only certify originals printed on headed paper in their own offices.

Which was what I had asked for a month previously.....

My advice would be, as I did, to keep plugging away until you can get a decent manager to take over. This happened with me eventually and he sent the entire history of my account, close to 15 statements and each and everyone stamped and certified as taken from the bank's official records.

We got the visa :D (Every case is different but our belief proof of savings would mean a quicker process proved horribly wrong....took 6 months)

* I am sure you know this but a friendly reminder to make sure that final statement, the most recent balance, is dated within 28 days of when you pay online for the application.
