Dual nationality (EU/Brazil), but EU passport expired

Hi everyone,

I could not find a similar situation in the forum so I’m creating this thread - I hope you can help me!

I have dual citizenship (Brazilian/Italian), I’m currently living in Brazil and I received an offer for a job in the UK (to start in a month)
The problem is that my Italian passport is expired, and renewing it would take at least two months here in Brazil.

Can I enter in the UK using my Brazilian passport as travel document, show my expired Italian passport and explain the situation when crossing the border? I would then renew my Italian passport in the UK (which is much faster than in Brazil).
