Reply from HO to provide documents.. What can I do?

Post by Violetta33 » Wed Oct 10, 2018 9:16 pm

Hello and thank you for stopping by!

My situation: I received a letter from Home Office to provide my original passport plus documents supporting my stay (P60, payslips etc) in the UK from Dec 2017 till date I applied in August this year.
Unfortunately, I don't have required documents, because in Dec I stopped work and became a housewife. Also, I have been travelling in Dec, March and April. Rest of the months I was at home, living from my savings (to claim self-sufficient I've read that I need to have a private insurance?).
I didn't register as job-seeker, as I thought I will start Masters degree or start job toward the end of the year.
What can I do in this situation? What documents housewives present?

Hi, it would be helpful if you explain exactly what and when you applied for (I presume a Permanent Residence Card), when you first entered the country and your employment/ activity record since. What exactly is the qualifying period and dates you have used in your application?

If you are applying for a Permanent Residence Card and using a qualifying period during which you were self sufficient for a time then you will be required to show you held Comprehensive Sickness Insurance, albeit the HO are saying this criteria will be relaxed for the new EU citizens settled status when it is rolled out fully next year.

Hi Ffumuni.

Thank you for your response. Sure, I should have provided more details!
I received PR card in June 2016 and applied for naturalisation at the end of August 2018.
I've entered the country in 2010 and worked constantly for over 7 years. Last job ended in Dec 2017, then I went for holiday plus as mentioned before I became a housewife, as planned to prepare for studies and needed some time off. I don't hold CSI as I believe that I return to work towards the end of the year.
Shall I write the letter explaining my situation and attach the bank statement proving that I was self-sufficient, although without CSI?
Do I have any other options? Thank you!

You can send them bank statement and G.B visit and ticket travel in and out and bills your original passport for this period . Work is not required in naturilisation . Just they want to know you are in the uk during this period. should be getting decision by 2 weeks after they recieve your reply.good luck

They want evidence that you were not absent for more than the allowable absences prior to the naturalisation application, etc.

Thank you very much!
I am glad to read this, as I was worried about 'not working' period. That's great news! Fingers crossed that everything will go smoothly!
