URGENT: Entry Clearance after HSMP Question

Post by marsh76 » Tue May 13, 2008 10:20 pm

Hi Folks,

I'm an Indian national living in the USA on H1-B. I recently applied for a HSMP and in all likelyhood it will get approved around Jun 15, 2008.
Unfortunately, I'll be in Canada during that time frame. Can I apply for an entry clearance in Canada? I'll be on a visitor's visa in Canada.

Please respond at the earliest.

Thanks.

You can apply in Canada; it makes no difference where you apply from. As long as you have all the appropriate paperwork it will be fine.

The ECO - if they ask any questions at all - might ask why from Canada - your tourist visa for Canada will explain that!

To be honest unless you are on a prolonged holiday in Canada is a few days difference in applying for entry going to be that crucial?

FrontierMole,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it could well turn out to be a prolonged vacation after which I might have to fly directly to the UK from Canada for a work related project.

What does ECO mean?

Entry Clearance Officer - the nice or not so nice person who will grant entry to the UK - or not as the case maybe. They are based at all the overseas missions, high commissions, embassy's that deal with visa application on site.
