HI folks,
I am confused hence looking for some advice. I came into the country in Sept 1999 and studied for 3 years with a valid visa. I then overstayed my visa until April 2010 when I was brought to UKBA's attention. Then i signed on until January 2012 when I was given discretionary leave. I got permanent residency in April 2018.
Now, I know that good character had been changed from 5 year to 10 in 2014 but Im confused about it. Although I think until I got my discretionary leave in Jan 2012, i am still considered dodging immigration, but i have read somewhere that the 10 year prior good character rules also mention of the 10 year period from the time a person has been brought to UKBA's attention. In that case, I should be able to apply for citizenship in April 2020? Because from April 2010 when I was brought to their attention, I had not missed signing on and had been complying with my immigration bail rules. Does that mean, I was of a good character from April 2010?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
