EEA FP Applying for EEA QP with wife once in London

Post by leshok » Sat Oct 20, 2018 7:59 pm

Hey everybody,

I just spent the past hour or so trying to find the answer to this Q on this forum, but couldn't.

Me - US citizen, working full-time in London for a UK-based company. Also works remotely for a few clients.
Her (wife) - EU citizen, working full-time in London. She has not lived here for 5 years, just 2-3.
Married since July '18 - living together.

I received my EEA FP for 6 months in August and moved to London one week later. We finally gathered all the documents needed for the EEA QP form here: https://visas-immigration.service.gov.uk/product/eea-qp

I just sent all the documents out today.

Q1: Now, being scared of everything as I am, I am wondering if (a) this was the correct form to fill out and (b) is this right process? I keep reading everyone's stories and it only confuses me further...

Q2.a: If the documents I handed in for the EEA QP were not enough, will they contact me before reaching a decision?

Q2.b: Could I call them Monday (sent documents today, Saturday) to ensure they received it as well?

Thank you

EEA (QP) is indeed the right form for your wife, given she's lived here less than 5 years.

Sounds like it, yes.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. All you can do now is forget about it and wait.

Did you send the pack by registered mail? If so, you should have a tracking number. I would patiently wait - I know it's easier said than done! Yoh should be getting an e-mail with you CoA after about 10 days - but sometimes it takes longer.

Just be patient!

Calling them about your case is rather uselss.. If you find out that there is some important evidence you did not send, you can send it to be added to your case.
You should get a biometric letter rather soon (about 10 days probbly) which is some indication that things are going in a right direction, and then COA..
(it seems they do not send COA to EU people who apply)

Hey everyone!

I sent out my application on October 20th, and about 5 days later I was asked to get my BRP photo taken, which I did next day, and here I am a few weeks later (Nov 19) with my BRP Residence card allowing me to work and stay in the UK! I hope this is all I am expecting to get. My wife received her EEA QP paper just a few days before me and we received all of our documents back at the same time.

Phew, relieved for a while...
