Can Digital Client Services Role Be a Critical Skill? (Salary 30k+)

Post by farluhan » Sun Oct 21, 2018 10:15 am

Hi guys,

So I am already in Ireland on 1G stamp (I did my MSc here). Currently, I got two opportunities in front of me, one is a role of a Digital Client Service Manager and another is a search engine optimizer.

Both pays over 30k, however, none of these roles are specifically in the critical skill list. Though it can be argued that these are ICT roles.

Any idea if these will qualify for critical skills? I have a feeling that in case if I have to apply for the general permit, the process will get messy because of the labor market test that the employer will require.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks a lot

Your two potential employers' HR department should have the answer to you. Without a detailed job description it is hard for us to determine whether it is eligible or not.
Generally speaking ICT sector is probably one of the easiest sector to get a critical skills permit.
And don't apply for a general work permit. If your employer thinks that your position isn't worth a critical skills permit, I'm sure you would find the job very boring after some time. It's a waste of resources for a MS.c. graduate to get into a "general" job that anybody can do while we still have a huge shortage in ICT sector in Ireland.
