Tier 2 ICT visa holder , SA late filling penalty

Hi,
I am on my ICT tier 2 VISA and residing in UK from April 2017. Recently I
got letter to my old address that your are penalised for late SA filling.
Firstly I am not sure why I am into SA, when I am paying tax via PAYE. When
I called HMRC they say it is must to do SA though no returns if you work in
UK.Is this the situation? Can you please help how to take this forward?

No I haven’t,I can work only for my sponsor

That's ok. Now you have to submit a nil return for that year and appeal to HMRC explaining that you only have one job through PAYE and no other income since you are in the UK.
First submit that SA return and then call them or write them. You will be ok. Hope this helps.

As I mentioned before you need to submit the return and ask them to take the penalty off as its their mistake.
