What sort of checks do the Entry Clearance people do?

Post by lokum786 » Fri Oct 26, 2018 4:43 pm

I submitted my wife's visa application 7 months ago. I did an enquiry as to why it's taking so long to get a decision. Received a reply stating amongst other things:

Before making a decision on an Entry Clearance application a number of mandatory checks need to be completed in both the UK and your home country.

What sort of things are they checking that could be taking them this long or is this their way of saying they're busy? They've not asked for further info so I'm both confused and worried.

I got the same message for my application and still no hope.

How long's it been since you submitted your application?

If it's not straightforward like more than one job, previous refusals, children, previous marriage etc then it can take longer for a decision.

You know best about your application's finer details.

I think the only complication is a previous marriage, but evidence of that having been finished was provided along with extra info. Is 7 month processing not excessively long?

Not necessarily, depends on the case and location. Areas like Asian and Africa have application thoroughly scrutinised, especially with previous marriage they will make enquiries to see you were free to re-marry.

Send UKVI a email and ask them to escalate your message to the department who are making a decision, and ask them what is causing a 7 month delay.
