AN Form by post

Post by Margueritta » Mon Oct 29, 2018 2:42 pm

Due to the fact that I now can't complete the *online version, I have been madly filling out the postal AN Form. Documents needed: "Your spouse’s or civil partner’s current passport or naturalisation/registration
certificate showing that he/she is a British citizen. If you are making your application by post you can send a complete and full copy of your spouse’s or civil partner’s current passport. Every page of the passport must be copied including any blank pages...

Does this mean I can't submit my husband's naturalisation cert. by post and that it must be his passport?

*I had a child out of wedlock with another person years before I married my current spouse, and the online form requires a marriage date.

I should add that I'm asking because my husband works overseas so he needs his passport. He gets home when our local doc check service shuts forever.

If they required only the copies of your husband's passport can't you ask your husband to courier a set of copies? Not sure whether the copies need to be certified by a registrar though!

I dont think having a child in a previous relationship is relevant. You can tell them when you got married to the existing husband.

Please correct me if I am wrong. At least your post is bumping up by my reply.

Thanks for your reply, Trilobite. The problem is, I don't really know. The person who knows these things at the doc checking service is away for a week.

My adult child is not relevant at all but it seems to be a question on the online version of the form (It's not on the paper version). If I reply truthfully, yes, I do have a child by another person, the next section requires a marriage date. If I don't put in a marriage date (because there isn't one), it won't let me complete the form. It's very baffling and I can't find anyone else having the same problem. Am I the only person in the universe using the online AN form, who once had a child out of wedlock? Apparently so!
