Permanent Residence Card - expiry in 2022

Post by Bing » Tue Oct 30, 2018 7:07 pm

Hi there,

Hope you are well.

I think I might be one of the minority situation here.

I received my permanent residence card from being family member of Irish in 2012. In my visa, it shows the expiry year is 2022. My original plan was to renew another 10 years when the time is up. However, due to the Brexit, it may not happen. Currently, I travel in EU freely with my EU family member and don't need visas to go to EU countries. However, after Brexit, it may not be the case any more. I wonder what would happen to me with my current visa for travelling within EU? To my understanding, after Brexit, my EU visa given by UK won't be valid any more as UK is not part of EU then. However, I am still the family member of EU citizen. I am quite confused.

I hope I am making sense.
Thank you so much!
