student working hours

Post by hypegal3 » Sat May 17, 2008 10:07 pm

Hey guys, I am just asking about the working times a student can do, I am on student visa. I know you can only work 20hours p/w, but does this also include the weekends or just weekdays, because I would like to work weekends also.

Thanks

20hrs week including weekends. Don't breach this - ur not supposed to rely on working to fund ur studies and the HO is clamping down on those that breach this term of the visa.

You can work full time during vacations tho.

Not only is UKBA following a tougher policy line so are the employers. The employers are now getting hit with fines for engaging illegal workers or knowingly employing limited leave individuals for contracted hours greater than their visa allows.

Your visa will be curtailed if caught. If any evidence comes to light at a later stage you are also risking any accrued years towards ILR.

Assuming ILR in hand with no working restrictions you can work as many hours as the working time regulations allow.

If you mean you have ILR but worked more than 20 hours in the past - technically it is a breach and edges into the deception area as you stated in your ILR application that you upheld the visa requirements. I would not worry too much - there are far worse immigration crimes than that to keep UKBA amused.

the only time that you can have more hours is when you are between semesters (ie summer break)
