URGENT! Expired TIER 2 - currently in between being sponsored

Hi all

I am in a tricky and stressful situation.

My Tier 2 Visa application was refused and visa has expired, didn't realise my employer's COS number had expired when applying. I now have 14 days to reapply for a new application.

Currently in the process of a new employer who is willing to sponsor as I was successful, they've done the Labour residence market test, and now applying for a new COS for me

1. When applying for a new Tier 2, does that have to be outside of the UK? Or can I do so within the UK using the new priority service?

2. Once new application has submitted, does that mean my stay is extended till my new VISA decision is granted?

3. How long does it take to get the new COS? They've emailed to say its extremely urgent.

4. Should my current employer also apply in case anything happens with the new employer

Just an update that I received a New unrestricted cos from my new employer, given that I am still within the 14 days, what would i put as start and end date of my current visa/leave to remain? Will it be the expiry of my visa 31.10.18 or when I submit my new application? e.g if today then end date 07.11.18
