Japanese Bank Statements

Post by Soupdragon85 » Sun Nov 11, 2018 10:46 am

I am a UK citizen with Japanese spouse hoping to apply for UK spouse visa within the next few months.

My UK salary isnt quite enough but we have the shortfall in savings, however some of these savings are in Japan.
I have never received bank statements in Japan, and even Japanese hubby is quite ignorant about Japanese bank statements, both of us have only ever used the bank book in Japan.

So a quick google would indicate that "zandaka shoumeisho" is a type of bank statement and so is "torihiki meisai". Hubby also tells me that he used only a copy of the bankbook when he applied for Youth Mobility Scheme in the UK many years ago but I'm guessing for spouse visa this would not suffice.

Has anyone ever used cash savings in Japan to make up some of the financial requirement for a UK spouse visa and advice what it is that we actually need to obtain (the name of it in Japanese) that the UK home office would deem the correct paperwork?

Many thanks.
