IGS Vs HSMP

Post by smartAquarian » Wed May 21, 2008 1:48 pm

Hi All,

I did my Master's Degree in IT from UK in April 2007. After that i came back to India and have been working here as Software Engineer. Now, I do hold the IGS for which i need to apply by July 2008. I am not sure whether i should apply for it not, as i am not really looking to go back to UK. Also, there isn't any guarantee of job in UK with that?

But on the other hand the IGS permit I currently hold won't be of any use after July 2008. I was just wondering if IGS is same as HSMP, as both of them gives one year work permit, using which you can visit UK and search for IT jobs.

Now, my concern is even if i loose IGS i can later apply for HSMP anytime, I wish to migrate to UK. Would that be the right decision??
Plz suggest
Thanks!!

HSMP holders may qualify for settlement after 5 years. However, IGS holders will not.
