ILR - BRP Card Replacement for Children after Expiry

Post by rec_prince » Wed Feb 20, 2019 4:23 pm

Dear All,

We got ILR in Oct2013 and got BRP’s Expiry as 10years for parents and 5years for kids. I realised lately that my son BRP was expired in 14Oct2018 and I applied online through UKVCAS for BRP replacement card (£238) on 23Nov2018 and provided Biometrics at Croydon on 12Jan2019.

It’s been more than 8weeks from applied date(23Nov2018). I haven’t received any communication or letter from Homeoffice. I tried UKVI number 03001232241 and they asked me to wait for 6months. But the online application clearly says, processing time would be 8weeks.

Since, my son doesn’t have the valid BRP card, we are stuck and couldn’t able to travel abroad. Can anyone point me in the right direction how to approach Homeoffice to get the information on the status of the application or if anyone had through the process and their experience will help me a lot.

Please see below my time line:

23-Nov-2018: Applied online for BRP replacement

06-Jan-2018: Uploaded documents on UKVCAS website_School/GP letters and Parents Passports/Bank statements/Council Bills/Marriage Certificate

12-Jan-2018: Given Bio-metrics at Croydon Service centre

20-Feb-2018: No information received yet…no update on status too…

Thank you,

Regards,
REC

A replacement BRP can take upto 6 months to be delivered. So you must wait to hear back

Many thanks for your reply Zimba.
I will hold on till July 2019, this was a terrible experience. We can't take my son out of the country until then :( .

Hi REC,

I am in a similar situation as yours. Did you finally happen to find a solution for your problem. I have heard that a Replacement Biometric Visa can be applied which allows entry to the UK once and then you have to reapply for your BRP. Kindly let me know what options you are pursuing ?

Regards,
VV
