Spouse visa extension - confirmation I haven't missed anything

Post by mtebbit2 » Sun Feb 24, 2019 11:50 am

Hi all,

I just want to make sure I have everything in order before I go ahead and any apply for my wife's visa. Documents I am supplying are:

To identify all individuals:
    • My wife's prior passport
    • Copy of her biometric residence card
    • Copy of her National Insurance card
    • My (sponsor's) Birth certificate - I lost my passport recently
    • Our daughter's passport and registration of birth with British Consulate
    Evidence of our relationship:
    • Personal statements
    • Marriage certificate (original and certfied translation)
    • Photos over the last 2.5 years
    • Letters addressed to us at the same address over the last 2.5 years
    Financial evidence
    • Confirmation of employment by employer including salary over £18,600 and confirmation of continuous employment for 2.5+ years, does not state when salary began at current rate.
    • Payslips for 6 months - to demonstrate I have been earning sufficient salary for this period
    • Bank statements for 6 months demonstrating receipt of salary
    Accomodation
    • Tenancy agreement for 2 bed apartment
    Knowledge of English
    • A2 certificate from Trinity College
    When should I send the application at the latest, the current visa expires at the end of March? I believe you need to aim to make the application within the window of 28 days before expiry.

    Thanks for your help with this,

    Matt

Are you applying via the new service where you scan documents online or the old service where you post documents?

Regarding the letter from employer, the official requirements are:

(b) A letter from the employer(s) who issued the payslips at paragraph 2(a) confirming:
(i) the person’s employment and gross annual salary;
(ii) the length of their employment;
(iii) the period over which they have been or were paid the level of salary relied upon in the application; and
(iv) the type of employment (permanent, fixed-term contract or agency).

Maybe an expert can advise how strict Home Office are on meeting all the above.

I believe you’ll need the applicants original passport and original biometric residence permit - whether they keep these at the appointment (via new online application) I’m not sure.

Your bank statements and salary payslips are all original paper versions right?
