BRP Decision question help!

Post by thisdoorislocked » Thu Feb 28, 2019 5:22 pm

Hi guys, I was wondering if you can help me. Basically I'm trying to apply now for my very first job in UK and I do have it in the bag (sort of). But I now have a problem with my residence permit because the admin person who was supposed to apply for my DBS said to me that since I have my Indefinite Leave to Remain in my old passport, I need to transfer it to BRP for them to run a DBS check. Is this really required these days? I've never really bothered to transfer my permit because it cost a lot and I only ever use it to travel back and forth to the UK. I'm afraid I'll lose the potential job since I read in the UK GOV website that it takes about 8 weeks to get a decision.

I have a few questions for any good souls out there who can help me:

1. The UK Gov site says "If you want a faster decision you can pay an extra £610 for the super priority service. You’ll get a decision within one working day." What does this entail exactly? Is the actual BRP card going to be delivered within a day, or just a reference number of some sort? £610 just about might give me a heart attack. Whew.

2. My employer tells me that once I've received an email from the home office with a reference number or tracking number (that the post office will give me), they can carry out the right to work check for me. Does this take a while?

Basically , I'd really like to know if I'm f*cked because of the time it'll take my BRP. And if paying £610 is worth it.
