Issuance of GNIB card

How long does it take to get your GNIB card. Is it same day or does it take weeks, my husband is an EU national from Britain so i dont have to pay but just need to know how long it takes. I have a D-VISA and legally resident in another EU country as a student (he also lived briefly in this country before getting a job in Ireland)
