ILR

Post by sfeb405ip » Tue Jun 17, 2008 5:49 pm

Hi,
I got 5 years work permit in 2003 (18-09-2003) and after a year and half reapplied through new employer and got work permit which is valid till 07-09-2008. When I got the new work permit I did not thought much of date at that time for I would have qualified for ILR on 17-09-2007 ,after completion of 4 years, had the rules for qualifying period not changed. But as you can see I fall short of 10 days to complete 5 years as required under the new rules.
Given the situation would I need to again apply for extension of work permit? or UK Border Agency can exercise their discretion to allow my application. Any advice citing directives or rules!!!
Thanks
F. Bokhari

If your employer is willing to extend the work permit, why not play it safe? Or have you looked into Tier 1?
