Registering with the GRO on Fiance Visa

Post by SimonPH » Wed Jun 25, 2008 4:50 pm

My Fiance has been in the country for a few weeks now and we need to go to give notice, I realise we can only go to certain places etc so its a long trek.

But, I am confused, as what should be used as proof of address for her? One site gave examples of a Driving licence or Utility bill etc, but how is she expected to have these?

What has everyone else used? and what other items could I use myself?

The other item is a birth certificate, she only has a photocopy so far, is the birth cert needed for non-EEA? or will her passport suffice there?

Well I found a number and called, there is no central place to call so I had to call the "local" registry office.

Answer: No, address isn't needed. You both have to sign a declaration regarding where she/he will be staying.
