Morethan 6 months UK visa holder(s) can visit Switzerland without swiss visa. No issue if u have ILR.

Just make sure you have a print out of the link provided above with you when you travel. Although personally when I did travel to Switzerland while on a work permit I had no issues at all.

can u tell me about where u went and for how long and how much did it cost and whether u liked the place?

is it better getting a package deal or goin there via easyjet and booking hotels myself once i arrive?

There are no restriction on any nationality entering Switzerland for I think a max of 6 week's, providing they have either a valid Schengen Visa or UK- ILR .
Enjoy your Honeymon in Switzerland and have a look at Locarno, on Lake Maggiore in the Italain part.

i'd rather not risk crossing the border from switzerland to Italy or any other country; imagine being caught whilst on honeymoon!!

If you really want to go to Switzerland why not learn about the diverse culture of the country? Hint: Switzerland does have an Italian part.

Anyway, border controls between Switzerland and it's neightbours (except Liechtenstein) are still in effect.

Word of warning about Switzerland. It is due to join the Schengen Area is December 2008. Accordingly I suspect that the current concessions adopted by Switzerland will disappear when they do actually join Schengen.

In other words, if someone currently needs a visa to enter "Schengenland", that requirement will be extended to Switzerland from December.
