This was on the cards some months ago. It equates to the same as the sponsoring employers & educational establishments getting the same treatment. The consultative documents have mentioned a number of options - the majority were rejected as unfair or unworkable - they wanted a bond or money up front or set such tight criteria that only a fraction of potential vistitors could qualify.

This option does not increase the barrier to visiting the UK but might deter those who "use & abuse the system" to consider their position!
