Concerns about Ireland stamps on passport - ILR (Long Residence)

Post by molbog19 » Sun Aug 11, 2019 10:35 pm

Hi all

I will be officially 10 years in the UK on the 25/09/2019 and is planning to apply for indefinite leave to remain via the 10-year long residence route.

I came as a student at Queen's Belfast on Tier 4 visa and stayed on to work in the UK on Tier 2 (General) visa. There were no issues with visa and I did not have any breaks in my residence in the UK. I have also never been out of the UK for more than 180 days at one time and never been out of the UK for more than 540 days cumulatively.

I have 2 Republic of Ireland entry stamps on my passports with 'internal transit to NI' written on it. I recalled 2 flights from Dublin Airport to Birmingham UK to visit relatives for Christmas. There were no UK entry or exit stamps on my passport for these trips, presumably due to the fact that the UK and ROI are within a Common Travel Area.

My question is, how should I fill in the online SET(LR) form to reflect these brief transit periods in Dublin airport? I've tried filling this in but the form does not accept the same date of leaving and entering the UK. I'm not sure whether I should just omit these, but I worry that UKVI might be suspicious if they come across 2 ROI entry stamps in my passport that were unaccounted for!

I look forward to your advice - thanks in advance 8) :D

You do NOT need to fill it in. Only FULL day absences count so if you left the UK and entered again on the same day, that will NOT count as an absence from the UK
