Canada Work permit Info Needed

I have got a VISA ( Work permit) through my employer to work in Canada on 6 month assignment under Software Pilot Scheme.
My assignment got delayed and now only 2 month left for visa to expire.

My question is:

Can I travel to Canada on same Visa? Will Immigration officer grant me 6 month Work permit when I reach Canada? Or I should apply for fresh visa/work permit?
