Post by reynt » Mon Aug 04, 2008 6:55 pm

Hi i am hoping to get married next month in colombia i have all the required details needed, except they want me to produce a single certificate, what is it or where can i get one.

I was born & still living in the UK, but my passport is Irish.
It also states on my passport that i am single.

Who wants you to produce a certificate?
Why don't you ask them what it is, and where they think you should get one?

Yes, you need to produce that certificate when marrying from another country. Ask your marriage registration office, I don't know where that is though. They will search for your name on their computer archive. If they have not find any name like yours that is registered then they will give you certificate that you are not married nor have registered as married. Same certificate if your divorced.

I believe that this is something that the British Embassy should be able to help you with.

It's called a Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage
