Claiming benefits

Hi everyone,

I need help answering some questions. So basically I’m going to be applying for my husbands visa soon but im not sure if I can claim for universal credit or child tax credit. Iv been told by a few people that I can not apply for both as it will effect his case. I just wanted to ask did anyone else apply and did it affect anything. I’m currently a carer and get paid carers allowance and I am also a part time sales assistant, but I’m currently on maternity leave. I don’t get maternity pay as I wasn’t eligible hence why I’m apply. I also live in a council house so will I have to do a property inspection or will my tendency lease be fine to give?
