Housing accomodation eligibility

Post by Yonis » Tue Aug 05, 2008 12:13 pm

Greetings,

I am an EEA national who lived in the UK since 2001. I have permanent residence and have just finished University.

I have recently applied for a housing accomodation but was rejected. According to my local city council, the reason for my ineligibility is due status as a job seeker.

I have made an appeal stating that I have been in education for the last 7 years and that I was dependant on my mother.

They replied that EEA work seekers need to be in employment to be considered as eligible for housing, as I was not working at the time of my application, I am not eligible.

Even though I am still job hunting, my question is, are they correct in classifying me as a work-seeker even though I have in education since I entered UK?

Thank you in advance
