Parents settlement

Post by Kaley » Mon Jan 20, 2020 8:20 pm

Hello All,

I want to bring my mum to live with me in UK permanently. Is there anyway I can do it? She is 70 year old with long term illness ( diabetic and heart problem).

My status current status is ILR for last few years and now in process to switch British citizen. I am non EU citizen.

My mum current situation is: she is US green card holder and living with my siblings. But they are refusing to look after her and neither she is interested to live with them. I desperately want to bring her in UK to live with my family permanently so that i can access NHS service for her as well.

I have gone through UK visa family visa rules and I do not see any easy route to bring her here to live with us permanently. If you have any insight, can you please help me.

Appreciate for your suggestion.

There is no easy route to bring her in for the purpose you stated. The Adult Dependent Relative ADR is the only route and the bar set so high it's more or less impossible to meet the requirements and or succeed with the application.
Note that the failure of the ADR also puts paid to likelihood of getting her a visitor visa.

Hello

It's very hard what you are describing. In the UK - and in most countries to be fair - there are plenty of restrictions to this kind of immigration. It's often perceived at as a burden as no country wants someone to immigrate at 70+ and goes straight to the public hospital to get treatment that would cost 5 or 6 digits £ over the years. It might sound harsh, but this is the world we live in.

As you are settled in the UK, there is an option but its' very remote: Adult Dependent Relative Visa.

The chances of success are very low but that's the only legal route for this kind of situation.

There are plenty of posts about it in this forum.
