British citizenship

Post by Ajen » Mon Feb 03, 2020 2:06 pm

Hi All..

I have made application for British citizenship on 26th/06/2019 followed by appointment at their service offices issued by the council. All documents verified plus biometric checks.. passed the six months timeline only have received an email on the 12/12/2019 mentioning the application processing time frame will be longer than anticipated!! I have completed 5 the year residency period and I have ILR.

What will happen if I call them to find out more or for an update of the application? Any ideas or suggestions please.

Thanks

You can try and call them but be aware that the call centre is an outsourced operation and the staff don't have direct access to case files or case workers. They can provide some general advice, which has not always been reliable. They will take messages to pass on to whoever.

Thanks for your reply..
Would calling them cause any problems? As I’ve heard in the past they don’t advise to be called unless it’s a change of circumstances.

The general advice by UKVI is that you shouldn't contact them before six months are up - that's the standard timeframe. Calling or emailing before then won't do any harm though they tend to send out standard emails only.
