WP to Tier 1. Can dependents continue on old visa?

I have a 5 year WP on which is valid for another 4.5 years. But I wish to change to Tier-1 HSMP so that I can change my employer.
My family which is on dependent visa, also have valid visa for another 4.5 years. They are not in the country when I am applying for HSMP. Is it possible / legal for them to remain on my WP dependent visa if I shift to HSMP visa?

Also will they cancel my existing WP visa?
