Financial status proof for Visa application

Hi,

My Friend recently got his HSMP approval for his application in March 08 based on the old rules (from India). He is now planning to apply for Visa.

He wants to know whether he can show his Linked Fixed deposit A/c (with his Parents) of 3 Lac INR. Would he be able to show this as his supporting money inorder to get the visa stamped? Provided he gets a letter stating their parents approval for this money ?

Can someone please help him ?
