Inviting family member while ILR in process

Hi,

I'm going to apply for ILR in mid December 2020. My tier 2 visa is valid till mid Jan 2021. I don't know how long it will take to get the ILR decision. I want to invite my mother-in-law to visit on a tourist visa to UK.

Is it possible to apply for the visa while my ILR application is in progress?
Can she get a 6 month visa, given my visa expires in next 1.5 month?

What are the challenges to invite someone on tourist visa while ILR application in progress?

Tourist visa has its own merits. Yes, it is possible. I applied tourist visa for my father when my ILR application was pending and had no issues. If I am correct, the minimum UK tourist visa you get by default is 6 months.
