Is it possible to submit Tier 2 visa application with recently expired passport ?

I recently lost my tier 2 job and my passport is just expired as well. Given the situation with covid issue a new passport from my country can take more than 3 months!
Since I need to at least submit a new tier 2 visa application I am wondering if I get a new job what can I do to at least apply for Tier 2 so I am able to stay in the UK.
