Hi,
I am applying for British citizenship under EU settlement scheme with 5 year qualifying residence period. I have settled status, and passed my Life in the UK test. After filling in the application I have the following document checklist generated by the system based on the answers i provided. Can I check with someone if I am submitting the right documentation?
- Proof of identity (my passport)
- Evidence that you have been in the UK lawfully for your 3 or 5 year qualifying residence period. This should be evidence that you were here as a worker, student, self-employed, self-sufficient, retired or incapacitated person (My qualifying period started Dec 2015 - I have letters from employers confirming my employment since pretty much Jan 2015 as this is when I arrived to start my job; I have been made redundant from 2 positions and was unemployed for 3 months in 2017, and 1,5 month in 2018 - can I cover this with council tax bills for 2017/2018 and 2018/2019?) I have also requested a statement of earnings from HMRC since 2015.
- If you spent some of that time in the UK as a student or as a self-sufficient person, and had comprehensive sickness insurance (CSI), a copy of your sickness insurance policy. (I have a master's degree from a Scottish university 2013-2014 which is outside of my qualifying period of 5 years. Do I still need to provide this?)
- The degree certificate for xxxxxxxxx to prove the level of English language required (my university degree certificate stating date, qualification received, name of the institution)
- Miss xxxxxxxx proof of Nationality:
You must include your:
- passport or EEA national identity card
- UK permanent residence card
- evidence of freedom from immigration time restrictions
You must have a permanent residence card before you can apply for citizenship Apply for a permanent residence card. (Do i need to include all of the above or is my passport and EU settlement approval letter enough? I do not have a valid identity card nor UK permanent residence card as I have EU settlement letter. I am confused by "you must have permanent residence card before applying for citizenship" as I read it is valid under 31.12.2020 and if I applied for EU settlement scheme I do not need that. Is this correct?
-Proof of living in the UK for xxxxxxxx for 5 years if applying in your own right or 3 years if applying as the spouse of a British Citizen Is the same proof for evidence of lawful residency enough? aka employment letters covering 5 years + hmrc statement of earnings for the past 5 years + council tax covering 2017 and 2018 years were I was out of work for 3 months enough? Or do I need anything else here?
- 2 references (university professor british citizen as a professional reference, and friend British citizen over 25 as a personal reference - is this ok?) Do they need to sign the photograph as well because the form is an online form....?
Any advice would be massively appreciated.
Many thanks
