Workers registration scheme, not apply, been working a year!

Post by lilly2006 » Thu Sep 25, 2008 10:59 pm

Please help

I am a Czech national and have been working for 1 year and i havent applied for my home office workers registration scheme.
Originally I cam here as an aupair 4 years ago. After 3 year of being an aupair I got a job as nanny and started paying taxes and NI.
I did'nt realise until recently that I should have applied for my home office workers registration scheme.

know i am really scared that if i apply they will ask me to stop working, fine the family I am with or deport me.

Please can someone advise me on what options i have and what the outcome might be.

thankyou in advance

Lilly

If you have been working for a year then don't bother. It is a voluntary scheme anyway and you cannot be deported for working nor can the family be fined.

Only if you were working for 12 months legally on 1 May 2004, or fall into one of the other groups who don't have to apply.

If you came in on or after this date you are required to apply for a WRS card.

Although there is discussion about scrapping the fee, the scheme is still ongoing. Not registering won't get you a fine or deported, but it can set back the date of your entitlement to permanent residence.
Oh, the drama...!

Thank you for all the replies,

If i apply they will see that I have been working for a year without the WRS form been filled in.

Are they likely to ask me to stop working ?

No they won't.

Just get it completed and sent in asap.

If it makes you feel better you can write a letter explaining what happened but it's not necessary.
