Tier 2/Skilled worker visa extension for less than a year and visa fees

Hi everyone,

I am on a Tier 2 visa since last 22 months. My current job is offering me work extension for another 9 months.

1. Will my visa be extended to 9 months or 1 year? I will have to pay for visa and IHS for one year irrespective of the fact that I will be allowed to stay for 9 months only. I have two dependents, by the way.

2. I have another job offer for 3 years which will begin next year (once the extension of 9 month is over). This will be with another company. I will have to again pay for visa and IHS for 3 years before I could apply for ILR soon after the end of my fifth year.

Therefore, practically I will be paying for visa and IHS for 6 years in total despite we should have been paying for 5 years. Is there any way to save this over payment which amounts to £4000 for 3 applicants?
