I wanted to get some advice on getting my Dob corrected on my naturalisation papers.
Apologies in advance for the long description.
I arrived into the UK in 1992, I was 3 years old. My parents were granted asylum and my father completed my naturalisation papers, when he did this he got the date incorrect: he put it as 01/03/1989 instead of 10/03/1989. I was not made aware of this until I obtained my passport, in which I contacted the Home office to enquire on how to get this updated they advised to provide either a birth certificate or Naturalisation papers.
I do not have my birth certificate and I had to wait for my mum to provide me my Naturalisation papers, once obtaining this I discovered that it contained my wrong DOB also. I contacted the home office again to advise that my naturalisation papers were incorrect and they requested to speak to my dad, which was not possible as he had just passed away. At the time I had just turned 20 and did not know what else to do.
In addition to this, I had no other form of identification and we were unable to get this from Iraq as the war was still ongoing. It is only until recently that my mum has been able to visit Iraq to get power of attorney after my dad passed and get some more documentation to help me correct my DOB. I have also been able to obtain my immigration papers, which has my correct DOB and Iraqi identity while in Arabic has my correct DOB in English.
Im looking to fill Form RR, But I am very nervous about the implications of filling this out. This is not my fault I was a child when everything was completed and I did not know what other options I had to correct the issue. I really want my Passport to be corrected, I have held back on obtaining my provisional license and getting a mortgage as It would have the wrong information.
Just want to get some advice on wether my dob will be corrected and not result in me being deported back to Iraq!!!
