Asylum seeker with a British son at the airport...

Post by Danbrix » Mon Oct 06, 2008 6:50 pm

I am a failed asylum seeker and currently in process of leaving the UK to apply for a re-entry clearance. My wife and son who is 3 are both British citizens.

My plan is to take my son with me as this is the only practical arrangement we came up with, given our own financial circumstances. I read on the forum people complaining the way they were being treated by immigration officers at the airport. Is there anything we should be prepared for?

Thank you

If you return with an appropriate entry clearance there should be no problem. Expect a short delay while they check the records and update yours as it may be out of date following the visa issue.

If I return with my spouse visa, then I will have nothing to worry about.

But is anything I should worry for my son on my way out at the airport?

If he has a British passport I don't see why you think there would be a problem.

Thanks for your reply UKBAbble.

I don't even know what I am expecting at airport but my worries came from people on this board who were not happy the way they were treated at the airport by IOs. The question is, am I going to be in a position whereby it will be difficult for me to handle IOs queries (OR God knows what) and at the same time keep an eye on my son?

We have already prepared a consent letter from my wife.

What I would like to know is what happens at the airport when people like me leave with the intention of applying for re-entry clearance?
