Tier 1 General holding ILR out of country for 5 years

Hi,

All,

I hold ILR ... i came to UK in 2009 on TIER1 General visa and in 2014 i got Indefinit Leave to Remain till 2024.
But due to health issues i came to India in 2016 and still am in india, can i enter to uk now will there be any issues... i heard some of my riends telling me that if you hold ILR we should enter to the country every 2 years.....can you guide me can i enter uk now after 5 years ..i still hold ILR till 2024 please guide me

ILR lapses automatically after an absence from the UK for more than two years.

You will need to apply for a Returning Resident visa before returning to the UK and will need to prove "your strong ties to the UK" and "your current circumstances and why you’ve lived outside the UK".

An absence of five years is quite a long absence and may not be viewed sympathetically, as you have resided almost as long abroad after ILR than you did in the UK before ILR.
