Schengen visa for a Settled Status Holder?

Post by hopeitwill » Mon Aug 16, 2021 3:45 pm

Hi everyone,

I am a non-eu family member and I am a visa national for Schengen countries. I have a settled status in the UK. I have the new Settled Status BRC so I cannot travel without a visa even if I am travelling with my spouse. Weren't those the good days?

Our travel plan is to drive to the Netherlands through Eurotunnel and stay there for a few days. Then we would be travelling to Italy for a few days and come back and stay in the Netherlands and drive home afterwards to the UK.

My first question is which tourist visa do I need to apply to? Do I apply to the French, Dutch or Italian? We will really spend equal number of days in the Netherlands and Italy but our port of entry will really be France.

The second question is, in which category do I apply for the visa? Do non-eu family members of EU family members pay for the visa fee from now on if they travel together? Do I need to show my travel plans?

I tried to find some answers for this but have been unsuccessful as Brexit muddled a lot.
