disclosure of child with ex partner in naturalization application

Post by Wasi123456 » Wed Oct 13, 2021 2:49 pm

HELLO, i am going to apply for naturalization after getting ilr on the basis of 10 years long residence. i have a five year old child with my ex partner in europe, she went to europe when she was pregnant and never came back and we are not in contact. i dont have any id documents of my child to prove that he is my child. in my ilr application there was question about the dependents who i was responsible for financially. as i am not paying anything bcoz of no contact, so i didn't mention about the child. now my question is

1). should i mention my child in my naturalization application ?

2). if i mention what documents home office can ask me to submit ?

3). is this a contradiction to my previous ilr application?

i would be very grateful for your help. thank you

You are not required to disclose whether you have children or not.

Your are overthinking this - arranging child support is a private matter between you and the mother/child.
Anyone wanting a visa needs to be able to satisfy the requirements at the time - as such you are not obliged to give assistance for this. And once you are British nobody will be delving into your private life.

thank you again for your advice. i have another question but its regarding the travel after naturalization application and biometrics. I know that after submitting application and biometrics i am free to travel. but the question is how long ?

I have plans to stay abroad for couple of months and during this time, i am planning to leave my house and arrange a diversion on my incoming mail to my friends address. when i will get my approval letter or email from home office, i will come back for the ceremony.

do u think its workable ?

plz guide me.thank you

Certainly travel is allowed.
Have a look at the timeline thread to give you an idea of how long applications take: british-citizenship/naturalisation-appl ... l#p2036744
As you are planning, it's a good idea to have someone receive your mail and check at your home just in case some mail still gets delivered there whilst you are away.

It's not a private matter in the UK if the absent parent parent does not pay. No contact with their child does not mean the absent parent does not have to pay.

And once you are British nobody will be delving into your private life.
The UK is a REMO (Reciprocal Enforcement of Maintenance Orders) country. The UK will delve into the private life of a person if another REMO country wants the UK to collect child support payments and any arrears owed. That's how the debt owed and future payments are taken from the absent parent.

There are many instances when the UK can delve into a person private life and being a British citizen does not stop that.
