Work Permit Application

Post by kush12 » Wed Nov 05, 2008 10:51 pm

Hi,

I 'm desperately needing some advice. I am working as a support staff(permanent) for Strathclyde Police for the last 11 months. I am currently on Fresh Talent Visa which is up by the end of January. My employer is going to apply for WP soon, however, my job is not shortlisted on shortage skills and my earnings are £15,000. There is a possibility of getting better position in the near future. Is there any chance they consider the future prospects, qualification or employer profile when making the decision? Somebody said that SCDI (Scottish Council for Development and Industry) asked for leniency in the immigration rules for Scotland, because of the declining population, but I couldn't find any relevant information on that.

It would be really helpful if somebody can advice me what to do next, if there is anything or Any letter or any other proof which would be helpful as supporting documents.

Please help

Thanks in advance

Thank you Vinny,

Saw the letter to Home office. The trouble is there is no confirmation that Home office will consider the applicant is from Scotland and take decision based on that.

I am awaiting for some advice on the first part of my initial enquiry as well, which is about the possibility of getting my WP. Anybody can give some help on that please!!!

Thanks again

Hello
Is there any chance they consider the future prospects, qualification or employer profile when making the decision?
No, apart from your qualifications will help, but your seem to have a waek case for a work permit. The fact that you may get promoted or that it is the police will not matter in the slightest.

£15,000 is very low. It does not appear to be a skilled post at that salary. They will have to prove recent advertising too if it is not a shortage occupation.

Bear in mind that work permits are going to be replaced by the points based system very soon.

I think you should check if you are eligible for anything else.

Regards

Thank you PaperPusher,

So the chances of getting WP is very less for me.
you should check if you are eligible for anything else
Can you suggest any particular programmes/ routes I can try, at least some idea would be much appreciated. Since I am not sure about these things and really nobody to ask or guide, any information would be very useful at this stage.

Thanks again
